K River Welcoming Committee.

K (Kannaayasiistiew) River opens with some character. Dinner was enjoyed here.

Ursa Site, our first campsite. The Tiffany sisters learn to rough it.

Down the middle, of course.

Sun, but only an introductory offer.

Our "Heb site". Perfect rock. Sun for just a few precious hours to inspire dinner.

This guy works in an office.

Croquettes to accompany spaghetti carbonara.

Yes. Speckled trout.

Glacier debris in the middle of the woods.

The gentle green belies the stubborn and unrelenting punishment dispensed by alders.

Joe remembers that portages do end.

Fire disposal.

Air cold, water cold, socks...

The stove approach. Quick lunch.

Campsite 2

Not valet parking.

The dream portage.

Leaving the K.

The shallows of a very big lake. The Corvette.

Corvette Lake. It's the easiest landmark on our trip to find from google maps.

Waves soak Cookie.

Wind bound.

Luckily the wind dropped for this expanse.

The first rapid of the Corvette. Big out of the gate.

Kitchens can be built anywhere.

Had to get Joe's yelps. The water out of the Corvette Lake was dramatically colder than the K. Icy.

Falafel, tahini and hot sauce. Perfect to thaw after freezing bath.

Classic scene. The two birch trees of the trip tucked away.

I snapped this with one foot in the tent as the temp. began to plummet.
